The experience of studying the history and closely evaluating it has its own charm and pleasure. Puritan Mentality
The current and contemporary believers of Christianity believe that the mentality of puritan's is rather staunch and firm, rather than what exists today. The mentality of puritan denotes their stance, with respect to God and his actions. Puritans firmly believe that God exquisitely writes each and every minor detail of our life and history, and whatever that happens in the world and our lives, is in accordance with God's will, rather than the consequences of their action, or any other predetermined phenomenon.
However, most importantly, the puritans believed that God has endowed upon them the duty of purifying the religion, and bringing the rigorousness back into it, which was lost in the contemporary church and reign of Elizabeth. Moreover, the mentality of puritans was reflected in their action and the apprehension the endured with respect to the reaction by God regarding the deeds, which the human (puritans) conducted. They firmly believed that whatever happens in your life is the sign of God's reaction to your actions. For instance, the happy and prosperous events denote that God's love and affection for you, whereas, any misery or hardship denotes otherwise (Derounian, p. 82).
Why Rowlandson Writes With This Mentality
If an in-depth insight is gained, as though how and why did Rowlandson pursue to write down an autobiography of her experiences, the reason why Rowlandson opted this mentality was mainly because of the target population of North America and the prisoners. However, the reflection of her feeling and emotions are clearly depicted via her experiences, as the autobiography and the history entails that amongst those who survived the gruesome bloodshed by the Indians, were taken as prisoners.
