The Relationship Between Music and Mathematics

Introduction

It happens a majority of the times when the theorists of music take the help of math's to understand music. It may look insane to a lay man but it is true and factual. The basis of sound and the sound in itself are all the aspects of music inter related to mathematics. One can truly say that the nature of math's is so amazing that ever thing in the world has some sort of linkage with math's, and no area of the world can survive without math's. The Pythagoreans of ancient Greece are the first researchers known to have investigated the expression of musical scales in terms of numerical ratios, particularly the ratios of small integers (Fiore,2008).

Main Body

The subject 0f music and math's may seem very different to every individual of the world who has no in depth knowledge of how important math's is, but speaking on ground reality, music is very much influenced from math's. The strings of a guitar or violin etc tend to vibrate to make sound, and they do so by moving at a certain level of frequency, and because of this sound waves are produced which are very well described by the equations of mathematics. A specific shaped device which is called a cello has been shaped in such a position so that it can resonate with the strings in a manner which matches the mathematical fashion. The technology of developing the CD and the way data is recorded on it are all done through the process of math's or mathematics. Although the language of maths may be very difficult for ordinary people to understand, but it serves a purpose that is out of the imagination of a majority of the people in the world. If asked ...
