Author Introduction

Somaly Mam is a Cambodian author and human rights advocate who doesn't know her parents or have any of her birth records. When her parents fled from the Khmer Rouge she left in a Phnong village. She stayed in the village till a man picked her up and promised to find her father. Instead he made her a slave. At 14 he sold her into a brothel, she forced to marry a Khmer Rouge fighter who beat her and sold her to six or seven men a day. Forced to work in a brothel along with other children, Somaly was brutally tortured and raped on a daily basis. One night, she made to watch as her best friend was viciously murdered. Fearing she would meet that same fate, Somaly heroically escaped her captors and set about building a new life for herself. She vowed never to forget those left behind and has since dedicated her life to saving victims and empowering survivors. The novel, “The Road Of Lost Innocent” written by Somaly Mam. Somaly Mam born on October 1, 1946 to a salesman of insurance services and a school teacher in the city of Austin, Minnesota. He was then brought up in a small town of Southern part of the state.Discussion and Analysis

In 1993 a French aid worker helped her escape to Paris where she married. In 1996, she returned to Cambodia and founded AFESIP an organization dedicated to rescuing and housing women who have been sexually exploited. In United States in 2007 she created the Somaly Mam Foundation which supports anti-trafficking and helps girls who forced into slavery. 

Novel Introduction

“The Road Of Lost Innocent” is a collection of related stories. The author Somaly Mam describes the experiences of an American platoon in the Vietnam War. The book was first published in 1990 as a hardcover from Houghton Mifflin. The book is largely made-up of stories and the main character of the novel are the author, Somaly Mam. Before the book published in general, some of the stories appeared without a causal relationship in several magazines.Background

In the first half of the story, it discusses on physical objects, weapons and memorabilia. The second half deals with more abstract, such as anxiety and responsibility. Later, the character Somaly Mam tells the experiences when he selected as a soldier for the war. He went to the North to the Canadian border. He describes himself as a pacifist. Finally, he decides against it because he does not want to lose the honor and family. While during the story several characters killed. In the very first chapter we learn about the death of Ted Lavender as it delineated in more details. Then the death of Curt Lemon occurs, who comes in sloppy play with grenades. Kiowas died because he could not get out of a mud field.
