Plot Overview

'The Searchers' is based on a novel related to Texas Indian Wars published by Alan Le May. John Wayne has played the main character in the movie by the name of Ethan Edwards. He has shown as veteran of Civil War who has been searching for his lost niece, Natalie Wood. Ethan Edwards has returned home from the Civil War after three years it ended. There was a huge gap that has occurred between him and his family during those three years. He returned to his brother's house in Texas. He certainly shared a deep bond with his brother's wife which apparently was unspoken.

Suddenly, there was a raid on the cattle lure of Ethan's neighbor. Indians attacked resulting in the murder of Aaron (Ethan's brother) and his son, raping and killing his wife and kidnapping their two daughters Lucy and Debbie. From here the search of Ethan begins. He was accompanied by a part-Indian boy who was an adopted son of his brother. Chief Scar is the Comanche leader who kidnapped Debbie and later made her one of his wives.

Ethan was full of anger and hatred towards the Indian tribe that murdered his family and kidnapped his nieces. Brad and Lucy found the Indian encampment somehow and they believed they have seen Lucy. After all the search and battles, Ethan and Marty took Debby back to the ranch.
