The Social Value of Education

Introduction

Education which is the method of obtaining knowledge and learning from a teacher, or acquiring knowledge form parents at home or any one from the social circle. Education is also the way that lets people to go higher and seek better opportunities in this world to succeed. This is one of the major causes that can affect job positions that people hold, achieve advancement in their career, the position the hold, and income they earn. Higher power and prestige can gained if a person holds better education opening many choices (Patel, 2011, n.d). In this assignment, Murray and Rose got into an argument which was portraying Education and its social values.

Importance

Education avails an immense social value in this modern world, or the intricate industrialized society. Education has been given a great deal of importance in all ages as philosopher from the ancient period and because of that many theories have been discovered related to objective and nature of it.

Important Functions of Education

Completing the socialization process

Educations major social aim is to fulfill the socialization process. Since the family cannot educate a child for living at home they can't complete the process, so the educational institutions and schools are placed in order to complete the whole process. Which made the people bound their child even to get the basic training that they are suppose to get home from school because they took school's are business and it's their job to train the children in acknowledging them about fair play, honesty, differentiation between right and wrong, and how to consider others. Schools have been devoting more of its energy and time id different matters such as being a good citizen, cooperation, fulfilling a duty and obeying the laws.

Spread the Central Tradition

All the societies sustain themselves in different ways, according to their culture. Culture defines certain skills and beliefs, literature, philosophy, art, music and religion that are not part of the heredity but they have to learn. These heritages can only pass down through organizations. Education has the capability of transmitting culture in the societies.

Forming Social Personality

People acquire personalities that are fashioned and shaped in different ways that adjust them into their cultures. Education all around the world forms the personalities of individual and that is how they function. It also helps in shaping the social personalities by transmitting the cultures. This formation promotes in integration to reproduce and survive.

Reforming attitudes

It helps the children who are wrongly developed in reforming them again. There could be many reasons where child might have developed beliefs and disbeliefs, host of attitudes, prejudices and loyalties, jealousy and hatred etc which need to amend. These institutions help the children in changing their beliefs, even though the schools have their own limitations and they will continue in reforming the child's attitude.
