Introduction

Edgar Allan was amongst most popular short story writer in United States. He was born in Boston in state of Massachusetts. He was a reviewer, poet, writer and editor. His tales and stories are unmatched till now in American fiction story category. The Raven was amongst the most popular stories written by him and is classified as the best known poems in the nationwide literature which has been generated till today (Poe & Dunn, p.25).

Poe's Bio

Edgar Allan was famous for captivating the attention of the audience by showing creativity and imagination in the stories and poems which he had written over the period of time. The creative talent of Edgar had promoted the rise of different categories of literature which had leaded him to earn the title of “Father of Detective Story”. This title was granted to him by the quality and distinctive work which it had produced over the period of time. There has been a serious mystery revolving around his life and differentiation between fiction and fact has been established since his death. Poe was unaware of his biological family. Poe's father had left the family when he was young and his mother died when he was only three years old. Poe had undergone several miserable events in his life with regard to his family. He was also separated from his siblings. After his separation he decided to live with John Allan and his wife Frances Allan who was a tobacco seller and was located in Richmond, Virginia (Vos et al, 1120).

Poe was unable to mix up with Allan's, although Frances was easily settled with Poe but difference between John and Poe constantly increased over the period of time. John prefers profits while Poe prefers poetry. Poe use to write poetry on the back of Johns business papers.

Financial issues also existed between them. Poe went to study in University of Virginia in 1826, but never received the required financial aid from John to pay the expenses. He then started gambling in order to cover up the expenses which turned out to be a major disaster as it turned out to debt. After coming back home, another bad news was waiting to welcome Poe. His finance Elmira Royster who was also his neighbor, got engaged to someone else. After this event Poe became severely frustrated and then he left Allans.

Poe utilizes his expressions wisely within the "Tell-Tale Heart"—it is one of his briefest stories—to furnish an investigation of neurosis and mental weakening.
