Cuba is an Island country which shares a border with United States at its North. According to the foreign policies of United States made by its government, an embargo has been imposed on Cuba. Both Cuba and United States know well that how to hold a grudge against each other. Since 1959, when Fidel Castro came to power in Cuba, the relations between US and Cuba were affected in a negative manner. The bitter arguments and the disputes between the two countries made US government make policies of imposing embargo on Cuba.
The US Embargo on Cuba is a failed foreign policy which should be lifted permanently, as Cuba lies on a distance of less than 100km from Florida and is a neighbor of US. This foreign policy made by the government of US in the past is considered as a political debacle, which has proved it to be a costly economic failure and is also known as an inhumane action. Having disputes with neighboring countries and islands affect the economy and also becomes a barrier in economic activities (Francis, 2009)
This policy of embargo has affected Cuba and its people in a negative manner, and they strongly criticize this policy and believe that their lives have got worse because of this foreign policy. The Government of United States should take actions to improve the relationship with Cuba and its people. This will help both Cuba and US and will provide both countries with benefits. Even though things have been seen improving in the past few years, but the government should try to take some immediate actions and remove the foreign policy of embargo of Cuba (Belanger, 2010)
