The Western prisons have proved to be a failure since its inception two centuries ago. Same is the case with United States which is leading the world in holding prisoners, yet very little control on crime, drug and other heinous activities (Balfour and Michael, Pp 15). The recent example is the killing of 25 people in a local school. These sorts of activities are repeated when a person sees other person doing the same act in film or live. Therefore, we should create a condition for everyone, especially the criminals, for decreasing these sorts of activities.
Prison Theater is one of the ways of reducing and increasing good moral values amongst the inmates (McAvinchey and Caoimhe, Pp 17). This sort of theater gives the inmates to relax their mind and improve on the behavior. Therefore, this activity is extremely important for promoting safety in the environment we live in; this is better therapy than the punishments given to the prisoner for improving on their behavior.
Thesis Statement
“Prison Theater is a source of increasing moral behavior of the criminals at the same time improving the safety of the society we live in, thus funding should be increased for this sort of therapy”.
Discussion
Although some studies have shown that criminals are born and not made. This criminality may be fit on some criminals but overall criminals are made by the environment they live in and not by innate behavior (Thompson and James, Pp 185). Thus, this criminal's act of the people can be reduced by increasing the training of criminals both through psychological means as well as through theaters in the prison.
Federal and State funding
As we know, that United States is one of the leading detainer in the world. This is due to the sheer size of criminal activities in the countries (Steen, Gonda and Aline, Pp 15). Thus, United States Government has taken several measures to reduce the overall criminality in the country by increasing various programs like incapacitation, psychological training and Theaters in the prison. However, unfortunately the United States government due to increased economic pressure has reduced findings for the rehabilitation of the prisoners (McAvinchey and Caoimhe, Pp 17). This has negatively affected the casting of theater in the prison, thus, theaters are diminishing from the overall prisons.
Cost of Theater
