Introduction

President Franklin D Roosevelt in his address to Congress in 1906, brought to light many issues that were facing the US economy and to improve the diplomatic ties between all the states. Roosevelt gave us a framework regarding how we should be living our lives and how countries should govern it and promote the interest of its members. His address serves as a guideline when it comes to individual rights, labor laws, functioning of business, international trade and global peace. This was the starting point towards bringing a quantum change in the society and Roosevelt should be appreciated for his tremendous efforts for society's betterment and welfare.

Theodore Roosevelt Address to the congress in 1906 stated that United Sates will continue its journey towards prosperity, only to be marred by illegitimate business practices. He praised Congress for the good work being done, which surpassed the work being done by all previous Congress. He proposed a law prohibiting Businesses to support political campaigns and another one which gives government the authority to appeal in criminal cases when there are questions of law. This will give government an opportunity to provide justice to factory workers, who may be fighting a case with big corporations. This law will give government to keep a check on big corporations. According to Roosevelt, crimes committed by big businesses against the helpless workers are more severe than an ordinary crime committed by an individual in normal circumstances. This is because these men are highly educated and should set an example for others to follow. Roosevelt talked about the abuse of power being done by strong entities to pursue their goals. The court law should be such which safeguards the interest of all the parties, including the minorities.

Judges should make their decisions independent from any external influences. It's been observed that big influential personalities and political parties try to exert their power in influencing the judge's decisions. Morally sound judges should be respected and their verdict is unquestionable and supreme. Roosevelt stated that in order to get rid of corruption, public conscience needs to be enhanced and legislation should be speed up and made more effective. The law should be equal for everyone including the black and white, rich and poor. The state should ensure that justice is accessible for all and it's speedy for quick issue resolution.
