Blended Language Assessment

The issues related to the privileging of electronic technologies have come into being due to the blended language learning environments that are evolved within the tertiary foreign language institutions. The blended learning techniques are based on classroom-based and online activities, challenges the practices of the traditional calling methods and face-to-face teaching methods within the newly evolving hybrid learning environments. EFL programs are based on extended blended learning practices. The process of bringing innovation in the institutional programs mainly requires a collaborative management culture that facilitates sustainable and appropriate standards for educational institutions. Most of the universities have taken great interest in the adoption of the blended language learning assessments, as these assessments helps in providing the students wide range of research opportunities by forming power and hegemonic relationships. The combination of face-to-face and online techniques in classroom is taken in the context of blended learning. The practices of online pedagogy and face-to-face pedagogy are sometimes hegemonic and often contentious. The blended language assessment's objective can be only achieved through properly establishing the purpose and scope of the assessment. Language plays an important role in our life so it needs to be assessed in a best possible way otherwise learning would not be attainable.

It is the responsibility of the assessor to educate the students on how they can take effective decisions when they are exposed to any complex situation. Assessment is obligatory for education. It exemplifies the values and goals of education systems. The assessments that are based on variety of objectives have wider influence on classroom practices.

Assessment Compels Education

An integral part of an individual is an assessment. Assessments are very much necessary for all the aspects of our life that are goal oriented as it is recommended for progress. Education can be only possible through assessment therefore, proper assessments needs to be designed to encourage learning. An individual can never get to know about how much he or she has learned until and unless he or she does not goes for an assessment. Assessment is also commonly known as examination or test, which the students take while getting education from any educational institution. There are various types of assessments, therefore one should be very clear with which type of assessment he or she is currently linked. For differentiation of each assessment certain set principles and objectives are defined. An ill-defined assessment can never lead to any fruitful results and it would not be able to gauge anything that would be of relevance. Therefore while designing any assessment tool one should be very clear with what he or she wants to achieve after applying that assessment.
