I was thinking about how every time I read something I wrote a long time ago, remember virtually nothing about, and how I think: "what, the, fuck?" every time I read something I wrote a long time ago. That got me thinking about that "letter to yourself" I missed making in the 5th grade, and then I think about maybe, one day writing a letter to myself. And I think about how I have a programming class now, and how I could write a program for my computer that pops up with a letter written to me that I wrote in the past, 2 years from now (www.mnhs.org). I doubted that I would ever write a letter anyway, due to my horrible laziness, and I became pretty sure my computer would be: A. replaced B. obsolete (even more so than it is now) or C. reformatted (Again). I thought about an article I read or something, that a guy in the 19-1800's wrote a archive of some sort, which all kinds of anonmyous information and random tid bits, that were incredibly helpful to historians and just people who wanted to read about what it was like Back In The Day (www.mnhs.org).

This virtual time capsule, is a website, sort of, that is filled with tons of information from one time, that will appear on the internet (if something better hasn't replaced it by then...) for everyone to read. Possibly it could be made and added to like everything2's site. After a set period, the 'creation time' ends and the site becomes invisible to search engine for the next oh... 50 years. Much priceless material for your time capsule can be collected from special people in your child's life. At your child's party or event, provide colorful note cards for family members to pen their special thoughts about your child (www.mnhs.org).

Encourage your older child to add his or her own special objects. Paraphernalia from favorite sports or hobbies, such as baseball cards and ribbons won in competitions are wonderful choices. School papers, drawings, and outlines of hands and feet will make for exciting comparisons when the capsule is opened.

Before sealing your time capsule make a document detailing all the contents. Specify the unsealing date and who should be present when it is unsealed (www.mnhs.org). Most importantly, write the exact location of the time capsule. Stow this document in ...
