Background

A “turf War” is an astringent great effort for control, authority, or right. In order words, turf war is defined as a rancorous disagreement among different opponent groups over land or a meticulous area of control. For instance, the turf war is exploded among the gangs of the streets; it can also flight due to indecent management in the organization. Turf war can also be defines as the disputation for any source among different groups, ensuing in altercation. Turf wars are merely to be happening in the neighborhoods that do not have the neighborhood watch. There are a number of communities with developing turf wars. The strength of the turf wars are intense in those communities where the proper watch on the neighborhood cannot done.

Neighborhood watch is the concept of the criminal prevention. The concept of neighborhood watch is one of the earlier and well known prevention concepts of crime in the North of America. The program of Neighborhood Watch is a cluster of individuals living in the identical location who desire to build the safer neighborhood by functioning in the corporation and in coincidence with the enforcement of local law to diminish the crime and enhance the life Excellency. There are different numbers of benefits of neighborhood watch. Neighborhood watch can reduce the level of crime and enhance the quality life of the communities, and building the area arrogance and concord (National Sheriffs' Association 2005).

Those communities who are following the concept of the neighborhood watch can better deal with the problems of the turf wars among the neighborhood and the shooting level in these communities most probably go down.

Problem Statement

The problem statement for this research proposal is given below:

“Turf wars are likely to happen in neighborhoods that do not have a neighborhood watch”.

Hypothesis

The null and alternative hypothesis for this research work is given below:

Null Hypothesis

Ho= Turf wars are likely to happen in neighborhoods that do not have a neighborhood watch.

Alternative Hypothesis

Ha= Turf wars are less likely to happen in neighborhoods that have a neighborhood watch.

In the research of the Anna Marie Hartman, the Turf Wars are developing in the “Mid-South neighborhoods”.
