Introduction

The economy of United Kingdom is the fifth largest in the world in terms of market rates to that of France and it is considered as the largest economy in Europe. It is considered as one of the world's most developed countries. During the nineteenth century, the United Kingdom per capita income surpassed the other European countries, which had well over France and Germany had similar per capita income. In 1920, British per capita income surpassed the U.S., but after the 1929 crisis, the U.S. economy is affected more than the British, but it was the most prosperous market (bis.gov.uk).

In addition, manufacturing is an important part of the UK economy. It remains a significant contributor to UK GDP, exports and employment. However it is also facing challenges from international competitors, rising energy prices and pressures to become more energy efficient. Therefore, we have analyzed the situation in UK and suggested ways of overcoming the current decline in the manufacturing industry.

Problem Definition and Elaboration

In this study, we aim to analyze the manufacturing sector in the United Kingdom. The study discusses the current situation of the market with relation to the world's manufacturing market. In addition, the Government Department of Business Innovation and Skill is concerned that UK Manufacturing does not innovate and lacks skill, which is why it is in dangerous decline. Therefore, we have made a consultancy report with the analysis of current situation and steps needed to be taken by the government to bring the market back to a sustainable situation.

Research Design and Application of Research Methods

This research is founded on the secondary data. The research encompasses the publications, articles and similar studies accessible on the internet. Keeping in view the approach taken in earlier studies the research began with a broad analysis of the existing literature. The findings & conclusions are based on the secondary data. The methodology used for the purpose of this research is based on the secondary data. This research is more or less based on the literature review & the conclusions are drawn on the basis of actual resources listed in the references.
