Washington Irving

Introduction

Washington Irving was the first American writer who achieved international renown. Irving was born in New York on April 3, 1873, within a family of Scottish and British descent. Three months after his birth, was signed the Treaty of Paris which marked the end of the war between England and the United States and the recognition from the metropolis of the independence of the American colonies.
