Argument in favor of paradigm of technical competence

In the book 'Deep change: Discovering the leader within', the argument that has been presented in favor of the paradigm of technical competence is that of a recipient who says that the technical personnel were doing his work in the best possible way and that people around him were demanding a change on the basis of personal and political conflicts (Quinn, 1996). This argument clearly favors the scenario where a technical person is allowed to gain his power and control. This means that the technical person who gains power does his job in the best possible way. The important thing here in this context is that the training must be provided to that individual for tackling with the personal and political conflicts within the department. Personal steps to change, in most of access are more significant the organizational steps to change since they together bring the required and many desired positive changes in an organization (Quinn, 1996).

There are many different things that I have learned from the seven weeks of reflection regarding the personal and organizational change. I believe that the most significant thing that an individual leader should learn is that he or she is responsible for the productivity of the whole organization. A leader should change him/her in order to enable others to change accordingly. The role of effective communication is vital for bringing desirable change. This can be done by communicating the members of an organization about the need of change. They should also be aware of the benefits that an organization may enjoy by welcoming a particular desirable change. A leader should lead by example in order to motivate and direct employees towards desirable behavior.
