The people who are different from others not by their natural talent or by their knowledge but the ability to inspire others to dream and make your dreams come true with a farsighted vision are termed as leaders. Leaders are far more different from conventional managers they can generate passion and boost up the moral of energy in everything what they do and transmit this passion and energy into their teams. They love challenges and can outperform in most challenging situations through their participation in teams. As according to Steve Jobs, an effective leader is one who brings change which can influence people around him.

Identification

Leadership could be defined basically as the ability to positively influence the team members in order to achieve the desired objectives. Internationally all the leaders agree on 'Change', but it is really hard to accept for the current management because of the fact they are used to of the daily routine. Change is directly related to the dynamism in the environment; if leaders don't change the environment would push them back and make them out of the business. The main advantage of motivating the team members is that they can boost up the performance standard (Martineau & Hannum, 2004). Leadership is the process by which an individual can influence their team members not to work more but to do their jobs in an effective manner.

Leadership is not a stagnant attempt. It demands strong feelings towards success and fluidity and majorly requires the willingness to recognize the need for change, and finally the ability to lead change. Change is not easy to implement on organizational level but it is the need of the hour therefore a leader is one who can embrace others towards change and manage all the affairs accordingly. Therefore, leaders are termed as they are different from managers, managers can be leaders but management is a function of leadership.

Contrasting Factors

If we compare the difference between leadership and management one can find out some important contrasting facts:

While leaders can promote learning culture in an organization and can motivate the team members to achieve their goals (Yukl, 2007). The element of motivation can bring more confidence and this confidence would become the ultimate performance booster because the team member also thinks that if leader accept my mistakes and want me to perform better than this belief and self efficacy would charge him towards better achievement of goals.

Managers are mostly on the view to buy hearts but leaders are on the view to win them and this is what makes them leader and differ them from managers. Leadership and management are those concepts and domains which go hand in hand side by side. Both of them are quite different from each other ...
