ABSTRACT

The increased number of children entering the youth justice system is one of the most neglected issues in Britain. The present situation is quite alarming and requires policy level changes within the practices of healthcare and youth justice departments in Great Britain. Keeping in view the importance of this topic, this dissertation provides an in-depth knowledge about the current state of affairs in connection with the plight of children and parents involved in youth justice proceedings. The first chapter provides an introduction to the topic, including purpose and objectives and significance of the study. The second chapter presents the literature review, with a prime focus on children's characteristics and involvement of parents during the proceedings. The third chapter covers the methodology - quantitative research method - to augment the credibility of the whole research. The fourth chapter presents the results and findings related to statistical tests. The researcher has also used regression analysis. The fifth chapter concludes the dissertation, providing summary and useful implications and recommendations for future research.
