Wind Energy

Introduction

Technological development has brought several changes in every field of life. Recent researches and studies demonstrates that, these innovative and advanced technologies have opened new door or ease and convenience for people and have allowed them to perform their daily tasks in a more efficient and effective way (Gasch, & Twele, 2012, pp. 25-28). One of the most prominent and leading technologies may include the technology of wind energy. Wind energy is considered as one of the most beneficial renewable energies which allow the countries, especially, United Kingdom, to maintain the integrity of environment, while meeting the current demands of energy and reducing the cost of energy. Recent reports and studies demonstrate that, in UK the integration of wind energy has brought various problems and challenges. It is because of the reason that, the organizations who were involved in the implementation of wind energy, had to incorporate advanced grid infrastructures (Burton, Jenkins, & Sharpe, 2011, pp. 89-92). In order to resolve all these issues and challenges in UK, various organizations played a vital role in addressing these issues. In this regard, ENTSO-E, which is the union of transmission network operators, had worked in order to address the issues or problems that were faced by the country during the shifting of traditional grid infrastructure towards wind grid infrastructure.

In addition to this, it is also observed that, trade wind also played a vital role in addressing the future and current issues or problems of large scale integration of wind. Proceeding paper incorporates the main concept of wind energy in UK as well as the issues that were faced by the concerned authorities, in the implementation of wind energy in UK. In addition to this, the roles and activities of relevant associations and projects such as ENTSO-E, EWIS and trade wind, in addressing the issues are also discussed in the proceeding paper.

Discussion

Wind generation is considered as one of the most prominent renewable technologies which are continuously benefiting the entire world. Recent reports and studies demonstrate that, approximately all European countries, including UK, are taking effective steps for the implementation of wind energy within the state. After considering all these facts, it can be expected that wind energy would significantly help the European countries in meeting the current and future demands of renewable energy (Winter, 2010, p. 25). In addition to this, wind energy may also help the countries in reducing various risks and vulnerabilities regarding environment. On the other hand, it is also observed that, countries, like UK, are facing various issues, problems and challenges in the implementation of wind energy within the state. It is because of the reason that, they have to change all the traditional power supply systems, as they have to change all the grid infrastructures. In this scenario, various associations or concerned authorities played a vital role in addressing these challenges or issues. Some associations including ENTSO-E, Trade wind and European wind integration study (EWIS) played a vital role in addressing those issues (David, ...
