Writing through literature

Introduction

Human life has always been the centre of attention of writers as well as literary figures, and all of them have been making use of the concept to produce pieces of literature, some of them being master pieces. The reasons being using this concept is: human beings are naturally attracted towards the complexities and the diversities of life and like knowing about the ideas of other about the same concept. The same phenomenon has caused writers to adopt the same theme and present in differently, using their own ideas and elaborating the concept in their own unique and different way. The following paragraphs highlight and focus on the theme of 'A good man is hard to find' and also presents my own ideas on the concept depicted in the short story:

Main Theme of the Story

The short story under discussion has been written by Mary Flannery O'Connor, famous American writer and novelist and has two major themes: the mysterious as well as undefined concept of a good man and secondly, the unlikely and the unexpected recipients of grace. It is eminent to mention here that the writer has beautifully descried the concept of the story through a series of events, which go in a flow and are explained in great detail, using minimum number of words. In the story, the grandmother consider all the people to be 'Good Man', and perceives that they are all good until they show their true face and prove that they are not good enough. She faces the same situation a number of times in the story, feeling every time that she is dealing with a good man, but all of these people turn out to be 'not so good' (O'Connor, 1953).
