Thesis Statement

As with many phrases, affirmative action may mean different things to different people. We not only find a difference in the definition, but we can see the difference between people in how they view it. Perhaps the person's opinion of affirmative action is sometimes affected by how he was personally affected by that person or someone close to this man. It is clear that if he personally helped by his presence, the person may be at risk in his favor. Of course, if he believes that affirmative action should be used, because it's better for society to provide opportunities for those who do not have them in the past, such person may be in his favor. On the other hand, if he was personally unable to because of its implementation, this person can not be in his favor. In addition, if a person believes affirmative action is not necessary in our society today, there might be opposition to it. Obviously, there are a number of other reasons for being in his favor or be against it.

Introduction

Affirmative action is a term that refers to institutional programs or policies aimed at creating equal opportunities for women and racial minorities in areas where they have traditionally been denied access. Although the term is relatively new, the idea of the purpose of the concept is not. Throughout most of U.S. history, women and minorities were relegated to the citizenship of the other party, and are treated as lesser beings than men White. They were denied access to employment, education, political and even social opportunities, which are usually held by men and are reserved for white. Although much has changed in the last 50 years or so, affirmative action continues to attract major controversy about its utility in the post-Civil Rights era.
