Anne Frank

Introduction

Anne Frank was born on 12 June 1929. She was born Annelies Marie Frank on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany, to Otto and Edith Frank. For the first 5 years of his life, Anne lived with her parents and her older sister, Margot, in an apartment on the outskirts of Frankfurt. After Nazi seizure power in 1933, Otto Frank fled to Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where he had business relations. The rest of the Otto Frank family followed, with Anne being the last family to arrive in February1934 after staying with his grandparents in Aix.

Anne Frank was one of thousands of Jewish children murdered during the Holocaust. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1929, she fled with her family in the Netherlands after the takeover by the Nazis in 1933. The German army occupied Amsterdam in May 1940. In July 1942, when the Germans began the deportation of Jews from the Netherlands to the extermination camps of Auschwitz-Birkenau and Sobibor located in occupied Poland, Anne and her family went into hiding with four other Jewish people. On August 4, 1944, the Gestapo (secret police of the Nazi state) discovered the hiding place. There was probably a denunciation by neighbors (Andrea, 22).

The Franks were arrested by the Gestapo and sent to the transit camp Westerberg. With the four others arrested, they were deported to the camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau in September 1944. In December Anne and her sister, Margot, were transferred to the concentration camp at Bergen-Belsen, located near Celle in northern Germany. They died there of typhus in March 1945, a month before the camp was liberated. Anne's mother was murdered in Auschwitz. Only the father, Otto Frank, survived until the end of the war. The Soviet army liberated in January 1945, at Auschwitz (Andrea, 22).

While in hiding, Anne wrote a diary in which she told with great literary talent, his fears, his hopes and his life. Found in "Annex" secret after the arrest of the family, the paper was preserved by Miep Gies, one of the people who helped hide the Franks, the idea of making his return to Anne.
