Cellular Phones Should Be Banned While Driving

Thesis Statement

Drivers should be prohibited from using cellular phones for any reason (texting, calling, etc) while driving.

Discussion

Despite the fact that people are busy and they claim that they need cell phones in their car to work, using a cellular phone while driving should be banned. Around 5 percent of all accidents occur because of driver distraction by mobile phones. Although any distraction while driving is dangerous, it can lead to an accident. This includes talking to someone in the car, texting, watching TV, fixing radio or AC. But no one talks about banning them. If you are talking to someone in your car then it will be as dangerous as talking on your cellular phone. If they are not banned then talking on cell phone cannot be banned as well. However, Texting while driving is an obvious problem that should be taken seriously and needs to be fixed, but talking on the cell phone while driving is here to stay.

This topic relates to both psychology and sociology. Psychology because multitasking (driving and using cellular phones) requires psychological presence. This is actually why accidents occur because your mind is not on driving. And it relates to sociology because use of cellular phone while driving is against the law and also has impact on society through accidents which create sorrows and anger in people's minds.
