Concert Report

The latest live performance that I came to was the NEIU Jazz Ensemble. It was held on October 13th, 2010 in the NEIU auditorium. This was my first time assisting a swing concert. Therefore, I didn't know what kind of music to expect or any melodies that I was well known to. This live performance was a new know-how for me. It was far distinct from a rock concert held in some large-scale venue. The reason of this live performance was to give persons a flavour of the NEIU swing Ensemble. The heritage or the background of this concert was strictly Jazz music.

Iwas stimulated about my attendance at this concert. It would be the first time I was going to a swing concert. I knew that I wouldn't be disappointed or get board there. The melodies they played was not the kind that makes you dose off. Ihabitually loved the sound of a trumpet. My very popular melodious assembly the Dave Matthews Band has a trumpet player, and this is how I started enjoying the sound. Therefore, I knew that this live performance should be worth going to. This concert gave me a chance to look deeper into what Jazz music is all about.

The music that was presented was Jazz. The whole Ensemble had fifteen persons in it. There were only fourteen genuine performers. One friend was the controller of the entire thing and he was composing. The composer created with his hands rather than of a composing stick. This was an intriguing observation for me. The instrument that was used at this concert was the Woodwinds which had five players on it. This was the most players in one class of instruments. The Woodwind players were seated in the first row. Other devices utilised were the Piano, Bass, percussion instruments, Trombones and the Trumpets. There was one vocalist. There were two Trombone players and three Trumpet players. They were all standing behind the Woodwind players. The Piano, Bass, and the percussion instruments were on the left edge of the stage. The composer was opposite the performers throughout a song. After a recital was over the composer turned round to the assembly and bowed. The live performance lasted about one hour. It started at 7:30 p.m. and went on till about 8:35 p.m. There were seven pieces of music that were performed.
