Tour de France

Tour de France is very popular and important event in France; not only as a sporting event, but the French consider it as a national pride. Any French rider, who won the Tour, becomes the object of public adoration at home (Delanzy, 2006).. The French like to say that the driver, who wore the yellow jersey at least one day, will never go hungry in France, its totally free feed in any cafe or restaurant. Millions of spectators annually travel along with the riders on the leg of the tour (of course, not on a bicycle, and in his car); some of them are located on a line segment a week before him, to get the best views of the race. In the hours before the riders travel on the highway is an atmosphere of inclusive holiday.

In racing, as in any other sport, there is an unwritten code of honor. Whenever possible, the rider has the right to lead peloton, if the route goes through the stages of his homeland or his birthday. Very often, Bastille Day, French riders win stages of the Tour (Delanzy, 2006).. If one of the leaders of the Tour there was any mechanical failure, puncture or a fall, his rivals in the general classification will not attack until the breakage of the cyclist and his return to the peloton. At the final stage in Paris, the top ten racers do not take any attacks on its leading position Tour, giving him one final day to bask in the glory (McGann, 2006).

Most of the stages of the Tour are held in France, although some stages are carried out in neighboring countries, France Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. There had been ...
