Introduction

Everyone in this world possesses varying potentials and expertise, and those expertise enable them to attain a distinct position for themselves in this world. Moreover, there are numerous individuals in this world who are a direct source of guidance for a lot of people in this world. Not only are they the source of guidance for the people but they also play a pivotal role in influencing and leading people, regarding numerous issues, matters and instances that arise in their lives. Those designated personnel are the spiritual leaders of the society, which are deemed to be the ultimate source of guidance and light for the people, and amongst them are the funerals directors.

Summary of the Interview

In order to get an insight regarding the functionality and the responsibilities of a funeral director, an interview was conducted, with one of the funeral directors. This assignment encompasses the summary of the interview, which was very profound and insightful, for a naïve person, who possesses little knowledge regarding the specs of a funeral director and his pivotal duties and responsibilities. This interview was primarily conducted over phone, and the person chosen for this interview was Natalie Summers, who had joined the Summers Funeral Chapel, founded by her father back in 1962. The interview summarizes her experiences, her knowledge, and her journey and how has she been a source of guidance and light for people that come to the chapel.

Expectations of Persons Dying

During the interview with her, the question, as though what are the expectations of the persons dying are, to which she replied in a rather extensive manner, revealing to us the whole phenomenon. During her interview, a rather perplexed questioned was posed to her, regarding the expectation of a person who is dying, and her response to those expectations. She revealed to us that not only is her job to assist the grieved family after the valuable loss of their loved ones, but also the fulfilment of the expectations or the wishes of the individuals who are nearing their death. People who are nearing their death, feel extremely vulnerable and wasn't to take it all out that is in their hearts and minds; however, in numerous instances they do not want to open up to their families. Therefore, they need a person to whom they can open up and confine in, who will later on disclose it to the family, at the designated time. The dying person expects the funeral director to listen to him/her with conviction and belief, and help him get over with any burden that he/she may be carrying on his chest, and assist him in the last hours of his life.
