Globalization and Innovation

Introduction

The literature on innovation is abundant and varied, and research strategies competitiveness through innovation experienced in recent decades, a growing interest. Innovation is at the center of business concerns regardless of their industry and size. The central question that arises now as well to researchers and practitioners is how the levers of action for re-launch, permanently, a dynamic growth through innovation (Estring, 2009). A majority of the work therefore addresses the means and approaches can be developed and implemented to promote the development of innovation in the enterprise.

In this paper, the author defends the thesis that changes in activity design required that to rethink the role of management strategies for successful innovation. The author tried to contribute to the general reflection on the design methodologies and engineering development.

First, it is important to place the transformations of the design activity in its current context. The first part of this paper will be devoted to the study dynamics of design in a context marked by globalization and intensive innovation. We will propose at the end of this section presents a model that dynamics that relates to the design activity. Next, the author, focus on the evolution of design activity and the status of art methods used. We present a general mapping of the main methods used by design teams. However, this mapping does not intend to be generalized, but it tries to illuminate this field of activity to better guide efforts of its structure (Kimberly, et., al., 2008).

Then, in the third part, we present systems engineering and examine how this approach constitutes a relevant framework for structuring activity design. The contributions of systems engineering in this area will also be discussed. The final part of the communication will be dedicated to a reflection on the engineering development of design methodologies.

Globalization and innovation

Definitions of globalization abound in the literature, leading a form of confusion about the use of this term, but the Globalization is often defined as the expansion of markets, both products as inputs, globally. This extension is accompanied by a growing complexity of the overall environment action companies and a theoretical divergence fueling debates about this phenomenon. Although it is not totally new in itself

Globalization has implications organizational and managerial increasingly important. Contemporary debates about globalization now differ from those conducted at the beginning of the previous decade. While attention is focused on the research sector and the issue of resources devoted to innovation systems, it is now Innovative SMEs who hold the keys to future growth. Bigay had already highlighted by arguing that globalization is no longer exclusively multinationals, but "concerns more and more medium-sized companies, but also Small businesses, especially in areas of high technology ". Globalization is about much all economic actors. Indeed, it represents an opportunity for some companies to expand their space of action and represents for further disruption of their local activity. These new data from the globalization and its binding facts therefore imply a cause of mutation and new implications both technologically and organizationally, especially in the case SMEs (Melissaratos & Slabbert, ...
