Health Promotion Concepts

The article says that adolescents have unique health considerations as they transition from parent-managed healthcare to personal responsibility for health behavior (Pender 2006). One question to believe is the goodness-of-fit of obtainable hypothetical models for explicating and anticipating adolescent health-promoting behavior. This integrative review researched Pender's health promotion model in relative to juvenile health. Specially, this article review sums up the factors of Pender's model and the affirming theoretical underpinnings founded in the social cognitive theory.

A model is a framework used as a tool in health promotion to plan actions. Health behavior is the focus of health promotion models, is to promote health successfully the models purpose is to promote a change in the individuals behaviors or to adopt new behaviors. Behaviors are modified by a number of internal and external factors, such as demographic variables e.g. gender, age, socio-psychological variables example personality, social class in addition to structural variables as well as Knowledge concerning disease (Pender 2006). There are numerous models used in health promotion but the author is going to concentrate on 3 of these models. The first model the author is going to look at is "The Health Belief Model" (HBM). The HBM is one the first behavioral change models to be developed; it is one of the most influential approaches to explaining health related behavior. The HBM is a model of cognition, based on the predictors and precursors to health behaviors.
