Introduction

There are many reasons due to which Human Resource Management is critical towards the success of an organization and for meeting its goals and objectives. Human Resource Management is required to assist companies in meeting the needs of their employees and to accomplish the goals of the company (Beardwell & Claydon, 2010). The discipline of Human resource management in hospitality industry is concerned with all the issues of a business that influences employees, hiring and firing, remuneration, compensation and benefits, training, and administration in a company. No doubt, the basic concept of Human Resource management is the proper management of people. However, it is also the role of Human Resource Department of any company to offer work incentives, information regarding safety procedures and sick or vacation leaves (Beardwell & Claydon, 2010). It necessitates planning ahead for the betterment of the company and also tries to congregate the requirements of employees in the best possible way (Doz, 1986, pp.68).

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel is a five star hotel located at Millenia, which is recognized as a famous tourism resort in Singapore. No doubt, management of this hotel offers unique rooms, dining and other services equipped by modern technologies. However, the role of human resource management has been issue for the management of the hotel. There is no doubt about the fact that talent retention is an important element of the human resource management studies, but the mobility or switching of employees in this industry has been a concern of the hospitality industry. This paper aims to discuss the human resource management of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and investigate the issues associated with it.

The act of getting things done simply refers to the term management. If we look at management from an organizational perspective we come to know that it motivates employees to accomplish their individual objectives, which will help in attaining the organizational objectives. It is management, which enforce a culture of using organizational resources effectively and efficiently (Beardwell & Claydon, 2010). Management encompasses in planning, organizing, staffing, leading and controlling resources an organization for accomplishing its overall goals. If Ritz-Carlton is analyzed it can be seen that it acts like a machine in which different parts work along to provide the desired outcome.

Interpersonal Roles: These roles are adopted by managers while coordinating and interacting with employees within the hotel.

Informational Roles: These roles help the hotel manager in handling, analyzing and sharing information among the employees.

Decisional Roles: These roles are for the top level managers of the hotel who require decision making ability.

Political: these skills are used to construct a power based on well established connections.

Conceptual: these skills are used by the hotel managers to analyze multifaceted situation.

Interpersonal: these skills are required by Ritz-Carlton's managers to communicate, mentor, motivate and delegate authority to his/her subordinates.
