The 1997 general elections brought to power again to Labour after 18 years of Conservative government in the UK. The significant passage of the 1998 Human Rights Act, which was incorporated into UK law, has the rights enshrined in the (ECHR). Instead of incorporating the European Convention into domestic law, making the British Human Rights Act is to establish in their national law, such as primary law, human rights "articulated in the similar language" as their Convention counterparts.
