Journey to Court

Before taking the bench, Justice Marilyn Kelly was a court docket attorney for 17 years in Michigan. Her practice was diverse in the topic and geographical area. In 1988, she was chosen to the Michigan Court of applications for a six-year term and re-elected in 1994. She was chosen to the Michigan Substantial Trial for an eight-year phrase in 1996, and re-elected in 2004 for an eight-year phrase which comes to an end Jan 1, 2013. She served as Chief Justice of the Substantial Trial from 2009 to 2011.

Justice Kelly was matured in Detroit and completed her graduation from Mackenzie High School. She earned a B.A. level from Southern Michigan University in Ypsilanti. After a year's study at LaSorbonne, School of France, she obtained her masters level from Middlebury College in Vermont.

She trained France terminology and materials in the Grosse Pointe Public Educational institutions, at Albion College and Southern Michigan University before joining the law school at Wayne State University. She gained a law level with awards and assists the law school now on its Panel of Guests.

She later became a Justice in Michigan Substantial Trial. She was chosen to a legal court for an eight-year term on Nov 5, 1996, after having been selected to run for a chair on a legal court by California's Democratic Party. Her term will come to an end on Jan 1, 2013.
