Leadership, Power and Its Influence: Case study of Intel

Introduction

Leadership is the capacity or ability a person has to influence, induce, encourage or motivate others to carry out certain objectives, enthusiastically and willingly. In the case of a company, leadership is often applied to a person belonging to a particular hierarchical level to another in a lower hierarchical level, for example, the owner of the business to its employees, or a supervisor or manager to his subordinates (Gozdz 2003). The main concept of transformational leadership was first introduced by James MacGregor Burns; initially this concept was discussed in the descriptive statistical analysis of political leaders but afterwards this term also used in the concept of organisational psychology. According to him, in transformational leadership both leaders and their followers work together to enhance the motivation and morale. Burn relates difficulties and change in behaviour as the main reason of the difference between the management and leadership (Goodwin 2001). He discussed to main concepts of leadership styles that are transactional and transformational leadership. According to him, transformational leadership style mainly influence positively on the live of people as well as on the redesigning of the organisations.

Power

Power is the ability of a person or organization to achieve goals. The easier it is to achieve the objectives more power you have. For example, the magazine receives 4000 hits per day is 4 times more power than a blog that receives 1000 hits a day, has power in the sense of conveying the message. The power of action vested in the credibility of the page and as users sees it.

The power in the case of a blog would be a ratio between the readings and the ability to create action among its readers, how to measure this is with daily visits, page views per visit and average time on the site (Fry 2005 ). Instead another politician may have more people we send, but less credible and trusted by the people and this is what remains in power. The easier it is to get something, the more power you have. There are other organizations such as the SGAE who have political power, but their social power is negative and is one of the most hated organizations, mainly because they are a bunch of thieves, are also characterized by bloggers denounce and censure. In this case the power would be political, but social power is very low because the whole world hates them (French 2002). The social power is better to have it, if people support you all support you; if people do not support you then you have a serious problem. When we have people on our side, shouting words much stronger, we can criticize and condemn politically, but if our social power is great our strength will be even more.
