1- Compare the Leadership Trait & Behavior of Ben Samuel & Ben John

I think that both- Ben Samuel and Ben John fulfill the criterion of trait and behavioral characteristics of leadership. The trait approach to leadership was one of the earliest theories of leadership. Brower & Balch (2005) mention although it is not a fully articulated theory with well-developed hypotheses, the trait approach formed the basis of most early leadership research. This approach focuses on the personal attributes (or traits) of leaders, such as physical and personality characteristics, competencies, and values. It views leadership solely from the perspective of the individual leader. Implicit in this approach is the assumption that traits produce patterns of behavior that are consistent across situations. That is, leadership traits are considered to be enduring characteristics that people are born with and that remain relatively stable over time (Brower & Balch, 2005).

With regard to these two personalities and my reading on leadership I will say that while behavioral theory no longer maintains the credence it once had, it did identify two important aspects of leadership that continue to be relevant in contemporary leadership theory. Studies of leadership showed that leaders displayed two styles of leadership behavior. The first style was a concern for people, where the key concern for the leader was the nature of the relationships at work, how people got along, and how they were being motivated and fostered. The second style of leadership behavior was a concern for production, where the key concern for the leader was the means of production, such as production targets, appropriate technologies, infrastructure, scheduling and planning, and work design. These two factors continue to underpin almost all modern leadership models and Ben Samuel and Ben John fulfill these leadership standards.
