Task 1

Introduction of the problem

In the world of business there are many essential parts to a successful operation. Some may say that marketing, production and/or sales are the most important part of any business, but after studying the process of operation management, it is found to be the backbone of any business process. Operation Practice embodies all aspects of the business process and unites them to create an efficient resourceful procedure. (Bickman, 2005 189-208)

The first step to a successful operation is to develop a detailed business plan. This plan should include all aspects of the business including the operation plan. The operation part of the plan for small business processes from raw materials purchase and handling, to package and shipping. Though operations plan can and probably will change throughout the life of a business, it is the one process that can not cut from any business. (Bickman, 2005 189-208)

      Why employ operation practice? Though a relatively new field of research and still evolving, many businesses employ it as a way to increase productivity and reduce error. operation practice allows companies to be more competitive by reducing unnecessary cost involved when resources are squandered.

     Who can be credited with the introduction of operation practice? No one person can be credited with this process. After all, throughout the evolution of man, through the centuries man has always found ways of becoming more efficient. (Bickman, 2005 189-208)The nature of the human being is to essentially be lazy. Therefore the human being is constantly finding new ways to get more for less. This means more increase in productivity, or output/input. This has lead to the world today.

    The world now is that lead by increase in productivity. The strive for this increase has fueled innovation. The steam engine was replaced with the gas engine. (Bickman, 2005 189-208) The horse and carriage were replaced by the horseless carriage, and the typewriter with the personal computer. Why is this important? All of these accomplishments represent the natural human instinct to become more efficient.

Explanation the process

Avon needs to focus on its promotion because utilising a good promotion strategy can potentially significantly increase a company's sales. Avon currently uses word of mouth, direct selling, Internet and advertising as their selected methods to market their products. The company's current promotions are insufficient, out dated and doesn't appeal or attract the interest of its target audience. Promotion can be considered to be a critically important success factor for any product organisation like Avon. The company's promotional strategy is unfocused and they continue to drop products for their product line on a regular basis. The company also uses a push strategy which does not promote the product effectively. (Bickman, 2005 189-208)
