The new generation has no better ally then fast food. With increased modernization and emphasis on time conservation, fast food is becoming more of a necessity than a trend. To give percentages to the number of people who go to fast food restaurants would be nothing but silly as fast food has established its roots in our country as no other trend has ever done and now we are the flag holders for this genre of food.

According to a survey, there are over 500,000 fast food restaurants in the world today.

McDonald's is the largest and best-known global foodservice retailer with more than 26,000 restaurants in 119 countries. Their outstanding brand recognition, experienced management, site development expertise, advanced operational systems and unique global infrastructure position them to capitalize on global opportunities. There are 1.5 million people works at McDonald's in 119 countries around the world. Are they creating employment? Yes they are. They create employment, but still workers in the fast food industry are paid low wages. McDonald's do not pay overtime rates even when employees work very long hours. Pressure to keep profits high and wage costs low results in understaffing, so staff has to work harder and faster. As a consequence, accidents (particularly burns) are common. Since they are pressured to keep their profits high, McDonald s tends to receive plenty of money or even profit, plenty enough to be the indicator of economic growth. The fast food industry advertises with the target of children. With there freebies and bright adverts the get children to make their parents take them to McDonalds. They manipulate the easiest target. Children will moan and whine until they go to McDonalds. If health stores had the money to advertise then I am sure that they too would be popular. Just as it is now health shops are rather expensive and have a major “hippy” label. If the prices would go down and the public realized what was better for them, the popularity of the stores would increase.

Mass-produced processed food has gradually and increasingly replaced fresh and healthy foods in people's diets over the course of the twentieth century. In recent decades companies have further capitalised on this situation by promoting fast and mediocre meals to be eaten outside the home. McDonald's is of course only one part of this jigsaw, but a very successful and influential part. They currently sell to about 30 million people daily.

This development in eating habits has enormous and serious consequences for relations between people and for human health. It has also catalysed a whole range of campaigns and movements dedicated to encouraging healthy eating and healthy lifestyles.Such efforts have forced food companies like McDonald's onto the defensive, and they have had to resort to producing propaganda to try and deflect public criticism.
