Effective leadership in the Modern Organization

Introduction

Leadership in organizations dominated by knowledge workers requires special skills and confidence on the part of managers. Knowledge workers well trained, highly qualified group of workers. You can think independently, have a sense of pride in their own decisions, to choose between complex options and reach a high level. Traditional role of managers as decision makers and policy initiator almost suicidal for the company and the manager (Crawford, 2008). Knowledge workers have a choice. You can easily switch to competitors if they are not in a way that a sense of respect for their special skills and recognition for their contributions and potential could be generated.

Often take on the intellectual property of the company. (Crawford, Strohkirch, 2008) Heads of State and Government at a compelling, shared vision for the future. They offer a deeper understanding of the objectives of the organization, a clear set of values that are embedded in the behavior (especially managers), and a focus on results, as seen by customers.

Leaders do not have subordinates - at least not out if it. Many organizational leaders have subordinates, but only because they are also managers. But if they mean that they should give up formal authoritarian control, because to be a leader, followers and to always have a voluntary activity (Burns, 2008).
