Introduction

Jurisprudence is the philosophy of law, that is, speculative thought about law. Jurisprudence is a doctrinal teaching, which stems from the governmental or judicial authorities. It can, however, be used to refer to the study of legal systems. It is interesting to observe that these secondary meanings respectively mapped onto two fundamental traditions of modern legal thought.
