Introduction

The development of leadership is not a small period process but it is a lifelong process. Nurses keep facing new challenges along the course of their careers. This calls for a constant need to change. The forces of changes in groups will come from leaders. There will always be the presence of conflicts as resources keep becoming scarcer and traditional roles of health workers are challenged. Leaders will be needed here as well to manage conflicts.

Of new opportunities continue to open gradually as the old visions will be realized or that changing societal expectations require new directions: the groups will require leaders to help them see the new perspectives.et to achieve them. Over our lives evolve, our skills in leadership must specify renew and upgrade their skills.

Nursing leadership as such needs to constantly change with time. Changes are needed to make it more effective by grasping the changes that are common in the field of medicine. Nursing leadership requires the realization and creation of development programs and activities by collaborative partners. Some of these requirements of nursing leadership can be fulfilled via:

colleges and universities

leadership projects

special centres

institutes that teach nursing leadership,

care nurses' professional associations at all the levels such as national, provincial and international

unions and organizations

Organizations that employ nurses (Hamric et.al, 2008).

Leadership is nothing less than an intrinsic component of all the areas of nursing. The management leadership includes critical thinking, creative thinking, and theories of motivation, systems thinking, collective bargaining, organizational structure, governance, case management, delivery systems, human resources management, budgeting, quality improvement, strategic planning, legislation, performance evaluation and supervision. For success to be present in nursing leadership along with valuable skills to evaluate effectiveness in relation to patient and staff outcomes, all these traits must be present in a nurse leader (Clark, 2008).

Role of leadership in the lives of nurses

Leadership is present and evident in the nurses through their actions who practice in Australia and other countries. Effective leadership in all nurses is a necessity in the health care sector that needs to be executed properly with regards to patient/client care, reform of health care and its development and promoting health while maintaining a strong and sound relationship with the patients and other members of the staff. Leaders must have initiative, the ability to perceive and initiate courses of action is not considered by others, are innovative most of the time and always go to the front and the expectation of all movements. Creativity is an invaluable capital account to which the leader is a skill that will help you perform many tasks in the best shape. The originality, the ability to devise new solutions to problems and to find new ways to be productive, very useful. Emotional maturity with integrity, a sense of purpose and direction, persistence and objectivity dependence is another important feature.
