Organizational Change

Introduction

In this paper, we are discussing the change which takes place in organization and how the management is responsible to manage the change to implement it successfully. We are discussing the situation of a medical device manufacturing company where change is taking place. The organization is responsible to keep an eye on the strategies used to implement the change and leadership which should motivate its employees to implement the change. Change is a gradual or stepwise process of translating the organization to the next level by using existing ideas and concepts. In this paper, we have made a hypothesis, which states as:

“The effective management of organizational change requires four key attributes - the ability to undertake good diagnosis of the situation, the ability to reflect and develop a good understanding of that diagnosis, an ability to use a range of theories of change to inform the process of change and the ability to get on with the change. These attributes need to be held by individuals, groups and be embedded within the culture of the organization.”

Changes from one level of maturity to other

This medical device manufacturing company is moving; from one maturity level to another should define the change process model they are using. This change process model should specify when changes will occur. Such model helps in providing a defined frame work and the steps which needs to change effectively. The change management practices are used to strengthen the capacity of organizational change. Similarly, change management techniques are also used to assist the transformation process with an emphasis on strengthening the organizational flexibility and ability to respond quickly to strange situations. When the organization move from one level of maturity to another, the changes taking place in the organizational processes should be at all levels (Bryman, p.729).

Change in business process of Medical Device Manufacturing Company

Since, change is an ongoing process. It is a step wise process as mentioned in the statement above should take place according to the change process model which includes the following steps:

The steps should be, clearly specified as to how change can be handled such as exceptions and unforeseen events. The change should be monitored at all level and employees and management both play a crucial role in bringing the change and successfully implementing it.

The chronological order of the process which should be, mentioned in the steps and the discrepancies taking place should be corrected. There is a proper procedure to be followed and employees should be fully responsible to follow that procedure in order to avoid any problems.

The employees should be communicated appropriately regarding the change management practice. They should also provide their feedback so that improvements can be brought (Scandura, 449).

The time scales should be, developed for the change taking place and should be, implemented in that time.

Quality and performance should also be checked for the processes.
