Introduction

Panic attacks are phases or episodes of severe apprehension or fear that are of relatively short durations and abrupt onset. They are feelings of terror that strike without warning that can occur at any time including the time when the person is sleeping. These attacks typically start suddenly; the intensity of the attack reaches its height within 10 minutes, and the intensity of the attack subsides in a few hours.
