Flavivirus

Dengue is a viral disease, acute, caused by dengue virus, transmitted by the mosquito Aedes aegypti, which breeds in standing water in containers and disused objects. Dengue is caused by four serotypes of dengue virus: DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3 or DEN-4, closely related serotypes of the genus Flavivirus, family Flaviviridae. This disease is more common in children, adolescents and young adults. It is characterized by fever of sudden onset that lasts 3 to 7 days accompanied by headache, joints and muscles.
