Marjorie Perloff (born September 28, 1931) is an Austrian-born U.S. rhyme critic. Perloff was born Gabriele Mintz into a secularized Jewish family in Vienna. Faced with Nazi terror, her family emigrated in 1938 after she was six-and-a-half, overseen first to Zürich and afterward to the United States, countering in Riverdale, New York. After helping educational institution at Oberlin in Ohio, she graduated from Barnard College in New York in 1953, doing graduate task at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. (MA, 1956; PhD 1965).
