Introduction

The UK Olympic committee for the 2012 games needs a specialist advisor, for which a tender needs to be submitted by the independent HR consultant. The senior board members needs to be shown the strategies and its benefits to the overall success of the event. The major concern of the event is to create team unity among the staff involved in the event. Another concern is communication, different ways need to be thought about which can assist in the effective communication between the team members. All these strategies have to be designed and implemented to make the games a successful event.

Team Unity

As the Olympics will be an international event, there will be a diversity of cultures present in the event. Some of the team members may also belong to different cultural background (Argyris, 1976, 37). The people attending the event will also belong to different cultures. So, to make them feel welcomed and to ensure effective communication between all, proper planning and management is needed. In order to make the event a success, it is important for the team to be united.

Code of Conduct

First of all, each one of the member needs to understand the goals and mission of the work. For this purpose, a code of conduct for the whole team is essential. The code of conduct identifies the behaviour standard for every member of the team. This code of conduct includes:

Open communication

Sharing problems and conflicts with the members

Team unity

Using consent for decisions of the team

Active participation in all of the meetings

Being engaged and attentive

An effective leader

The whole team needs to follow the code of conduct. The leader needs to be efficient in motivating and encouraging his/her team and lead them to success (Argyris, 1976, 37). To properly address a conflict and resolve it with a positive attitude is required. The team needs to have good communication and interaction amongst them.

Self Esteem and Trust

The whole team needs to have faith and trust in each other. They have to respect each other ideas and suggestions. They members of this events team ought to be encouraged to build help build self esteem of each other and support one another. For this, they should be assign specific tasks together, when those tasks are completed, they will share a sense of accomplishment and sense of unity among themselves which will help in building trust and faith in one another (Clampitt, 2005, 25). When the team members help and encourage each other, they will automatically start working as one and will accomplish their tasks in easily and efficiently.

Working Together

Firstly, the team should be assigned a small task in which they have to perform the task together in order to complete it. This activity will enable the whole team to work together as a team.
