Introduction of Postmodernism

Cultural trends have a way to reflect the intellectual and political issues, within a broader society. This is the case with postmodernism, a term used to refer to art and architecture disciplines. It is an intellectual phenomenon of interest to American life. This method consists of the repetition and juxtaposition-a mixture of high culture and popular, and this attitude is typical irony. Postmodernism refers to a particular constellation of styles and tones in cultural work, the pastiche, the void, a sense of exhaustion, mixed levels, shapes, styles, copy and repetition, a formal self-consciousness about the nature of the work and made , a rejection of history, a way of apprehending and experiencing the world and the location, or dislocation in it. In the postmodernist sensibility, the search for unity has apparently forgotten. (Dear, 2000, pp.23-45)

People currently have textuality; growing surfaces constantly refer to other surfaces, which bounce off them, and are reflected in them. Emphasis is placed on its arbitrariness in its construction, is interrupted itself. Instead of a single centre is a pastiche, it is in cultural recombination. Everything takes place in the present, "here", i.e. nowhere in particular. The work was conducted without any illusions: All people play their roles deliberately. Everything has been done already. The collision routine is presented with irony. The postmodern is fragmented, unstable, decomposed; at the end, only speech is there. Where there was passion, or ambiguity, there is now a collapse of feeling, emptiness. Beauty deprived of its critical power has been reduced to an embellishment of reality, and postmodernism has been deleted. The superior culture is not served and popular culture, it is confused. Postmodernism reconstruct the relationship between pre-modern and modern. Defining the present cultural moment as a sequel, but it is not true. Postmodernism is known so that accompanies it. (Flusty, 2002, pp.13-20)

The guidelines of postmodernism are present in versions of modernism and it is the current embodiment of a modernism that continues to develop. Roger Shattuck has ensured that Cubism, Futurism and Art spiritualists shared a principle concerning the composition: a mixture of mental states, in different times and places, from different points of view. Collages, montage, are the essence of modernism. Modernism had to go asunder what postmodernism is mixing and associating. The multiplication of perspectives of modernism led to the dispersion of voices of postmodernism, the modernist collage made possible the union of postmodern gender. (Dear, 2000, pp.23-45)

Barbara's Kruger Art Pieces

The discussion will take place of the various art pieces of Barbara Kruger who tried to present the meaning in every art piece. There was historical and cultural context as well in all these art pieces. The first art piece that contained the message was “When I hear the word Culture, I take out my check book”. It meant that whenever culture is discussed, it gives the person an opportunity to present it in the best possible way in front of other people. Basically, the idea is to promote the positive image of ...
