Qualities of a Good Leader

Introduction

Leadership of an individual within a group or community is the relationship of trust that is established between the individual and the majority of the members of this group or community in pursuit of a shared objective. This relationship is temporary (and sometimes ephemeral) and reciprocal and even indenture (the leader should have as much confidence in the group that the majority of the group has confidence in him).

It is manifested by its ability to unite and mobilize energies in collective action. It results in an election formally or informally, express or implied, in which the majority of the group recognized as one of their legitimate leader and delegate its decision-making authority (freedom to decide). Leadership can come from an individual, a group of people or even disembodied features - if not mystical - a figure well-known (compared to a hero). However, there are other uses of the word leadership without active leadership, but to which followers show great respect (often derived from tradition) (compared to the courtesy title reverend).

Followers often attribute to the leader of a status or prestige. Besides the prestige, role sometimes granted to the leaders of opinion, the use of the word leadership can be used to characterize the influence between competitors, for example within a company or a market economic or technical, without it there is continuity of leadership. Thus we can make an important distinction between being in command and leadership process. Leadership implies a relationship of power - the power to direct others to a particular time or in specified circumstances.
