Introduction

Creating a diverse team and harnessing the potential of different people without restrictions of nationality, gender, with different physical abilities, cultural heritage and beliefs is a long term strategy and a priority for the business. This path is selected by intentionally and is based on the fundamental values of the company. Conscious policy of equal opportunities in the company for a variety of command staff requires the rejection of stereotypes, and sometimes courageous and decisive action from many people around the world. This paper aims to discuss the importance of diversity within an organization with the help of examples.

Discussion

This diversity has been something very American for a long time. The demographic composition of the country and racial tensions, made the government regulate the inclusion of minorities in business. Even today its system of "quotas" is very elaborate: for each professional category, is offered a fact of availability in the market, for example, the percentage of blacks in management positions. Depending on the distance between the availability with the% you have in your squad, you are assigned a target forward. So every year you have a grill and professional goals by demographic: women, Latinos, blacks and Asians.

The new qualitative leap that multinationals are taking is to develop strategies for global diversity, not just American.  But that's what companies are doing to develop "Global Diversity"? To answer a few:

Prepare your employees to work globally, with different cultures.

Create Groups or Global Employee Network (Women's Group, the Gay ...)

Provide mandatory training in diversity worldwide.

Discard work with countries with oppressive laws to some groups or work to change those laws. That is, take a clear position on issues of human rights worldwide.

Rate in the careers of its senior executives who have experience in other markets. Something very logical considering that for many of these companies as part of their benefits is already overseas.

The increasing diversity of the agents in the environment is evident and an irreversible process, which if anything will, will increase in all aspects (Demography, economy, technology, governance) which obviously impacts the business process and its potential for sustainability - which is the goal of any organization indisputable. A sustainable company in changing environments, that is, a company governed by policies and strategies including Diversity, allows you to operate at a profit, is a company that is prepared to meet its social objectives: creating jobs, satisfaction provide an environment that allows them to balance their work and personal life for their employees, produce and deliver products and services tailored to the diverse needs of new customer profile, manage your supply creating a situation of partnership with its suppliers, as to integrate its shareholders in a common project. The Diversity Management does not replace, but all power resources of the organization to increase the effectiveness and outcomes of the strategic plan.
