Abstract

This research paper is based on highlighting the learning and understanding that is developed through the Social Work Program course. A case “Ruthie Assessment” has been taken to testify the learning and knowledge that is obtained with this course. Ruthie was having serious social problems that were disturbing her and she was developing psychological disorders. The social work assessment model along with Family Systems Theory were recommended by me for assessing the issues and complexity that Ruthie is facing in her personal and professional life. She needs proper care and attention of the family as she is going through severe depression and anxiety. This is the main reason that she is unable to perform all her duties and responsibilities within the organization in an effective way. The recommended theories were Adlerian Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and Behavior Therapy all these can help her in reshaping her social life, behavior and attitude towards the life and ultimately she will be able to adjust herself in a better way in the society.

Ruthie Assessment

Introduction

This case is based on Ruthie Williamson a 38 years old women who is working in Tempratools company as a factory line supervisor. Currently she is facing extreme problems such as self anxiety, highly poor work performance and absenteeism. All these loopholes were informed by Ruthie's employer Maxine Deville. Her employer is true supporter and friend of Ruthie, therefore she is quite worried about her mental and physical health. She was the first one who told Ruthie to visit a social worker for assessing her anxiety and depression. The past history of Ruthie was extremely poor; she had gone through rough times since her adolescence. This can be one of the major issues that are creating all these troubles for Ruthie. Ruthie has been working with Maxine Deville since 15 long years, so she would be better aware of her behavior and attitude.

Maxine Deville has pointed out that Ruthie should visit a counselor for taking suggestions and advice on how she can bring improvement in her behavior and control her anxiety level. She had been always mistreated by her family. Ruthie has been divorced twice and is having 3 children but none of them are living with her. She loves her children but is found unable to properly express her love to them. All this is mainly due to her past worst experiences that do not allow her to express and share her views and feelings. This research paper will help Ruthie in finding the right solutions for her conflicts and higher level of depression through the support of social worker and therapies.
