NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service)

The series follows the adventures of the main team of special agents from the Federal Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), called "Major Case Response Team" (MCRT), with their headquarters at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington. The NCIS is responsible for more serious crimes that involved members or personnel are related to the U.S. Navy or Marine Corps. The Major Case Response Team, in particular, deals with the most difficult and sensitive cases, such as the murder of men close to President, celebrity deaths in the navy base, terrorist threats and kidnappings (Seidman, 2011).

The MCRT is led by special agent supervisor Leroy Jethro Gibbs and consists of agent Anthony "Tony", Special Agent Timothy McGee, and Special Agent Ziva David, who was initially aggregated to the team as a liaison officer with the Mossad, who is replaced from the third season by Agent Caitlin "Kate" Todd, who was killed in service at the end of the second season. In its investigation, the team is assisted by the medical examiner Donald "Ducky" Mallard, his assistant Jimmy Palmer, who is later replaced by Gerald Jackson and forensic analyst Abigail "Abby" Sciuto during the first season.
