SOCIOLOGY OF SPORTS

Part A

One of the main objects of sociological study is to analyze the progress of society and its relationship to the achievement of high results and the principle of achievement. Sociology of Sport, as it can be stated in very general terms, seeks to uncover the relationship between sports activities and their corresponding social structures. The existence of the relationship between a particular unit of society and the principle of sporting achievements is the basic premise of the unit sports a sociological study. Sociology of Sport receives and stores the knowledge of the reality of sports. Sociology of sport objectives is quite varied:

The study of the role, functions and values ??of sport in people's lives and society;

The emergence and spread of different types of sport in society;

The study of the socialization process in the modern sport;

Investigation of the effect of power on the restrictions for inclusion in sport and successful participation in it as participants, organizers and spectators;

The study of the variability of forms of sport, as a response to social changes;

Facilitating the completion of the conceptual apparatus of sociology.

Sociology of Sport mainly uses categorical apparatus of the theory of physical culture to describe highly specialized athletic events, as well as categorical apparatus of sociology. It should be noted that of all the sciences, students of physical culture and sport, sociology tends to rest more holistic study of this phenomenon, including the combining and synthesizing the knowledge of other sciences.

In looking at the sociological framework the writers use the conflict theory regarding the issue of social class in Physical Education and Health. This sociological framework is suitable for this article as it looks at how social status/class and social order is a part of sport. Sport is a form of physical activity that is distorted by the needs of capital as well as an opiate that distracts attention away from the problems that affect those without economic power. Social class shapes social structures and relationships, which after reading this article becomes very apparent. The authors consider the issue of the poverty theory: class configurations in the discourse of PE. Evans and Davies state that, “if nothing else the above analysis reminds us that pedagogy should always be studied by looking at the social forces that induce, maintain and legitimate its variety of forms” and they believed that, “study of dominant pedagogies is for us.....a crucial aspect to understanding how communication systems structure individual and social consciousness and identity”.

Both teachers work and pedagogy occur on a national and increasingly, global scale. Perhaps one of the key implications for policy and practice in PEH arising from this analysis is that, simply because it is possible to statistically and conceptually separate our 'the effects' of say, gender from class and also ethnicity, it still does not mean that, for example, gender differences can actually be addressed in isolation from class and ethnicity.
