Spatial Disorientation

Introduction

JFK's Death On November 22, 1963, one of the most controversial assassinations happened to one of the greatest leaders in America, by Jack Ruby's mafia, with the assistance of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) that committed the act of treason, in the murder of John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK). There is hard evidence supporting the cover up and scandal involved with his assassination. Due to the confiscation of films and evidence, the citizens of the United States must only know what they are told by the government(Nori and Giusberti, 2006). Kennedy was the sole pilot on a night flight that departed from the New York City area and was en route to a family gathering in Massachusetts. The following synopsis is based on the preliminary NTSB report on the accident(Benson, 1999).

The fatal accident involving a Boeing 737-800 operated by Kenya Airways in May 2007 was caused by spatial disorientation and a loss of control, according to the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) investigation.

Another fatal accident, Back in March 14, 2009, a Piper PA-28-236 Dakota (N129AB) crashed into a Pomona, California hillside, killing two pilots aboard the aircraft, a husband and wife (Chuck and Renee Shaffer of La Verne, California). The accident occurred at 11:15 AM PDT as the pair was flying with a group of other pilots and aircraft called the Skylarks Club.

Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr., the oldest child of Joseph and Rose Kennedy, was born on July 25, 1915. He attended the Choate School in Connecticut and the London School of Economics prior to entering Harvard, from which he graduated cum laude in 1938. He went on to Harvard Law School but left before his final year to volunteer as a navy flier. Awarded his wings in May 1942, he flew Caribbean patrols and in September 1943 was sent to England with the first naval squadron to fly B-24's with the British Naval Command(Barrash, 2008).

The Kennedy Curse refers to several misfortunes suffered by one of America's most prominent political families, the Kennedy's. Unnatural deaths and unfortunate events have also extended to those related to the Kennedys by marriage, such as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and her two step-children from her marriage to Aristotle Onassis. In the context of conspiracy theories, the Kennedy Curse is believed to be the result of an actual hex cast against the family as some sort of vendetta. Most people use the term "Kennedy Curse" as a metaphor for the series of tragedies that have befallen the family, which is thought to be mostly due to their access to excess as one of the most prestigious families in the world(Benson, 1999).

Prior to the accident flight, he obtained weather forecasts for a cross-country flight from Caldwell, NJ to Hyannis, MA with a stop in Martha's Vinyard, MA. The forecast indicated visual flight rules (VFR) conditions with clear skies and visibilities that varied between four to 10 miles along his intended route. The pilot then departed at about 8:38 p.m. local time, about 25 minutes after sunset and ...
