ABSTRACT

Competitive advantage of a firm is something which is a specific advantage over another firm providing a differentiation of the organizational system, creating values of the products and services which are being offered. Michael Porter is the one who introduced this generalization and put up three general approaches through which competitive advantage can be gained by a firm. However, the strategies can also be useful for the successful implementations of such analytical and technical abilities of an individual capacitated organization. This dissertation had an aim to acknowledge and highlight the procedure through which a company can gain competitive advantage over some of the main potential and effective business market components with the case study of ASDA, in the UK super store market. This dissertation also determines the elements that are actually responsible for the development of competitive advantage of an organization. With the help of a mixed methodology considering positive aspects about the research and discoveries, the researcher figured out of the multiple reasons that impact on the management and creation of competitive advantage in the UK super store market. The researcher found out that ASDA has a recommended and higher competitive advantage developed over smaller business based super stores in UK through the formation of a quite strong reflection. The end outcome derived through this research exhibited a severe leveled competition among the big names in the UK super store market such as ASDA, TESCO etc.
